Critical,
dynamic
and radical
ethnopsychiatry
The Frantz Fanon Association (AFF), founded in Turin in 1997, brings together professionals from different backgrounds (psychology, psychiatry, cultural anthropology, cultural mediation, educational sciences) who share an interest in health, migration, and culture issues and are committed to developing clinical interventions in the field of mental health for people with a migrant background.
What we do
ACTIVITIES
Clinical activity
Individual or family ethnopsychotherapy and talking therapy groups characterise our approach to care, inspired by the principles of critical ethnopsychiatry and therapeutic models from other societies.

ACTIVITIES
Training
At national and international level, we provide training on topics related to ethnopsychiatry and medical anthropology, in both public and private social contexts. We also organise seminars open to the public, featuring experts of international standing.
ACTIVITIES
Research
Our core activities focus on various themes: migration, health, violence and torture, the epistemology of clinical practice, the cultural construction of childhood, therapeutic strategies of traditional healers, witchcraft, young people and the imagery of migration.
ACTIVITIES
International activities
Our activities have an international scope: they encompass research, clinical intervention, training and evaluation, and have been carried out over the years in Europe, North and Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Balkans.
