Thirty years after the the Frantz Fanon Center foundation, established in Turin in 1996 and now operating in Naples for about four years, it continues—alongside research and clinical practice—to provide supervision, aimed at developing tools for understanding the issues at the heart of critical and radical ethnopsychiatry, which we sought to build in the wake of Frantz Fanon’s thought.
This year we are offering two weeks of supervision, a time to reflect and exchange among professionals of diverse backgrounds, researchers, and students grappling with the diverse expressions of mental distress and the threats of global violence, which are characterized by the militarization of daily life and the dispossession of territories, psychological and social alienation, and the destruction of family ties.
During supervision, each participant is invited to present an experience and an encounter (clinical or ethnographic) to be discussed in groups and elaborated upon, guided by Roberto Beneduce and Simona Taliani. The aim is to develop a critical methodology that allows for the analysis of the migration situation, as well as the social production of suffering and the colonial structures present in our knowledge and institutions.
The material will be circulated a few days in advance. External guests will also be present to discuss their research and share insights and in-depth materials. The supervision weeks include a welcome, overnight stay, and meals.

The study weeks organized in Entracque are open to all those working in the fields of health, care, migration, rights, ecology, and the defense of communities and territories. They are aimed at a diverse audience: people interested in reflecting on what it means today to “care for” the suffering of individuals and communities in contexts marked by uncertainty, abandonment, and violence, amid the noise of protest and struggle. There are no enrollment limits based on prior educational experience.
The seminars, supervision sessions, and the self-managed week aim to provide moments of reflection and exchange among professionals from different backgrounds, researchers, and students who are dealing with old and new expressions of distress that are now inseparably intertwined with the threats of ecological crisis and the violence of history.

Yes, the village of Entracque can be reached from the refuge in 15 minutes via path or 30 minutes via road.
Comfortable clothes, warm layers, rain jacket, hat, indoor footwear, hiking shoes, towels, and sunscreen. In the facility, there is an obligation to use slippers or flip-flops in both rooms and bathrooms. Trekking shoes are necessary for the Friday promenade. And don’t forget your sunscreen.
No fixed Wi-Fi. Portable routers are available but are unstable.
Italian and English, with possible French. Basic Italian or English is recommended. We will support each other using circular translation—so we can familiarize ourselves with the slower rhythm that is reproduced in clinical work with linguistic and cultural mediators, and during research when we are accompanied by those who help. However, we strongly suggest sufficient knowledge of Italian and at least “broken English” to guarantee informal exchanges.
